Routine Scheduled Cleaning

Down, cleaned and re-hung on a date you set: bi-annually, quarterly, monthly or weekly.

Why visible soil is the wrong trigger

Standard practice in most hospitals is to clean a cubicle curtain only when it looks soiled or after an isolation discharge. That leaves a long tail of curtains that hang for months beside a bed and are never routinely cleaned. Accord Curtains built this program for that gap.

A curtain is a soft surface at the edge of the bed that every shift touches. Accord's own Soft Surface Sanitation page makes the point that soft surfaces trap dust, bacteria and other contaminants, which is why a calendar works better than a glance.

Accord Curtains cites the CDC estimate of 687,000 healthcare-associated infections in U.S. acute care hospitals in 2015, and about 72,000 patients with those infections who died during their hospital stay. We cite it as the reason to put curtains on a schedule, not as research of our own.

A date on the calendar, not a guess

It starts with a visit. We sit down with your Environmental Services and Infection Control staff, then walk the facility and take an inventory of every curtain and room. That count becomes the sheet the program runs from.

You choose the cycle: bi-annually, quarterly, monthly or weekly. On the agreed date our uniformed installers arrive, take the curtains down at the ceiling track, clean them and re-hang them. If you want a room to keep its privacy meanwhile, we can hang clean replacements.

Each curtain carries a woven label with a QR code. It is scanned when the curtain comes down and again when it goes back up, so the count leaving your floor is the count returning to it. Routine cleaning is open to every type and size of facility, from a 1,000-bed hospital to a small rural one.

What you have in hand afterward

Every job ends with a detailed report. Each scan records the date, time, employee and location down to the room number, so the last-cleaned date is visible the moment someone scans a label.

Through Accord Curtains Tracking Software you can pull reports by building, department, floor, room or cubicle, and the schedule is reviewed with Environmental Services and Infection Control as your floors change.
